Silverthorne Electric Line Replacement
Overview
We’re upgrading electric infrastructure in Silverthorne as part of our Silverthorne Electric Line Replacement. Construction will take place along portions of Brian and Adams avenues and will include replacing about 0.6 miles of underground electrical cable during the first phase.
This work is part of Xcel Energy’s Electric Resiliency Program and is the first phase of a multi-year project to replace about 2 miles of underground electric cable in Silverthorne and unincorporated Summit County.
Upgrading aging electric infrastructure helps us continue providing safe and reliable electric service and prepares the system to meet future customer needs. For customers, this means fewer outages, a more resilient electric system, modernized equipment and improved reliability for years to come.

Trees, shrubs and other vegetation near power lines can cause downed lines, outages and wildfire risk. We may remove vegetation, including trees or branches that are too close to a power line or that will grow too close to one. Our goal is to provide safe, reliable electric service while preserving community vegetation whenever possible.
We will restore work areas to conditions required by permits as weather allows. Some areas may be temporarily restored until final restoration is complete.

Our electric system is monitored 24/7/365 by trained staff in advanced control centers, and we regularly inspect equipment to identify damage or anything that needs repair. Safety
The safety of the public influences every decision we make. We take a proactive approach by implementing safety measures before, during and after construction, including clear signage, traffic management and routine inspections.
Our electric system, including distribution lines, is monitored by a 24/7/365 staffed control center. If there is an unanticipated event in the system, the flow of electricity into the system is shut off at a nearby substation to protect the public.
We inspect our infrastructure regularly to check for damage, equipment needing repair or replacement and anything else that might jeopardize safe, reliable operation of our equipment.
In the event of an electric infrastructure problem, clear the area immediately and contact Xcel Energy’s emergency number: 800-895-1999. Call 911 in an emergency.
